At the request of the organizers of the Vilole Images Film Festival, YEZI Arts will provide K2.1million towards the hosting a Film Forum on financing the film industry in Zambia with the topic ‘What are the benefits of investing in the film. The discussion forum will be held on the 24th September, 2010 at the Courtyard Hotel. The expected panelist include Menelik Shabazz from the United Kingdom, Masepeke Sekhukhuni and Noreen Ash Mackay from South Africa, Alex de Verteuil from Trindad & Tobago and Farai Mpfunya or Stephen Chiborimgo from Zimbabwe. Zambia’s Representative on the discussion will be William Kazoka – who is also Star Kenikor Zambia representative.
“YEZI Arts has continued to advocate for support to the creative industry particularly the arts and culture sector because of its high potential in contributing to this country’s economic growth in terms of both job and wealth creation. The film forum, thus, is an opportunity to hear and share experiences on how film financing is currently going on in other countries, and it will be very useful to have different stakeholders participate in this meeting”.
